Production losses
In the printing industry, regularly testing the volume of your anilox or full coating gravure roll is crucial for preventing production losses. Wear, “doctoring”, improper cleaning can cause incorrect volumes. Don’t assume that your roll has the correct cell volume. Use Capatch to:
• Obtain an indication of the volume of your roll
• Reduce production stops to five minutes or less
• Prevent scrap production
• Provide a verification of the volume of a roll after cleaning or maintenance
Purpose of Capatch
The Capatch is “cell pollution trend watcher” and a quick method for measuring volumes of Anilox and Gravure full coating rolls in printing presses. The Capatch has a tolerance of plus or minus 10 percent. Although it might have a similar tolerance to other measurement instruments such as Wyco, Urmi, Ravol and Volugraph, it is not meant to replace them. These methods take 10 to 15 minutes, or longer, to carry out. The Capatch is an additional tool for use in the printing press and gives a rapid reading but with a slightly larger tolerance. It takes no more than two minutes to apply the Capatch correctly.
Variation in results
Much of the variations in results obtained by some users arise because the typical user does not push 100% of the indicator liquid out of the capsule and into the cells of a roll. Resellers visit their customers for obligation free demo & training. After a five minutes training the users are trained and understand how to empty the capsule of the Capatch and understand how to force all indicator liquid between the Capatch foil and the roll into the cells.

Application frequency
This depends on the type of production: frequent changes of production and colors increase the likelihood that the cells will become plugged. Some printers check their rolls with Capatch every two weeks. On each roll they use at least two Capatch strips. In case of a large difference between the two results, they use a third Capatch strip for confirmation.
If printers find a value out of specification, they have the following options:
• In case printers have another, more labor intensive, measuring system in house, they can verify the results with the other system.
• Clean the (anilox) roll themselves or outsource cleaning to a roll cleaning company.
• Call the (anilox) roll supplier and decide jointly what to do with the roll. The roll supplier may offer to verify the results with another, more labor intensive, measurement system and in the event of confirmation clean or replace the roll.
Visual damage to the Capatch mail package
Sometimes small particles of the indicator fluid will seep into the rim of the capsule leaving a red circle, or even pass through the border of the capsule. As long as the fluid remains in the blue, green or red safety-zone around the capsule the Capatch is safe to use. When making a measurement all the fluid in the safety-zone shall also be used and forced forward with the plastic doctor blade. The Capatch might be crushed during shipment, in which case the indicator fluid will leave the safety-zone and enter the area where the scale in cc and BCM is printed. If this is the case please send the damaged Capatch strips back, and we will replace them.
The 24 units in a box are packed with 13 cardboard sheets the same size as the Capatch. Each cardboard has a hole the size of the capsule to protect the capsule of two adjacent Capatch units.
Storage
Keep in a cool and dark place. Avoid transport in a hot car during summer months.
Tests proof that storage for 36 months show no deterioration. “Use before date” is registered on every box with 24 Capatch strips.
